On Women’s History Month, we want to celebrate and honor the life of an alumna we are particularly proud of. Maria Giovanna Dainotti who received a #Fulbright scholarship in 2012/13 at Stanford University.

Maria Giovanna is an astrophysicist who discovered several important relations that exist among relevant parameters in Gamma Ray Burst (GRB) prompt and afterglow emission. This discovery has contributed to further the understanding of the GRB emission mechanism and is internationally known as the Dainotti relations.

In 2013, under the age of 35, she received the Knighthood of the Italian Republic, order of merit of the Italian Republic, the highest recognition in #Italy, for excellence in the field of #Astrophysics. She is one of the youngest to have ever received this recognition
