Partnerships

The Fulbright Program promotes cultural exchanges between Italy and United States thereby contributing to the process of internationalization of Universities through the mobility of lecturers, researchers and graduate students from both countries.

The Fulbright Program in Italy promotes partnerships with universities and private and public sector organizations in order to expand its program of scholarships and to make it more responsive to societal need.

Through such partnerships, Italian and U.S. universities can avail themselves of Fulbright Lecturers and Researchers who can spend a period of time, ranging from 3 to 9 months, collaborating with the host university in a variety of teaching and research activities.

Italian universities can make proposals for these Fulbright Lecturers and Researchers; can fund them directly; and can participate in the call of proposals for Fulbright Distinguished Chairs and for Lectureships in American Studies which are advertised on a periodic basis by the Fulbright Commission. The Commission takes care of the publicity of the scholarships in the U.S. through the Council for International Exchange of Scholars (CIES); is a guarantor of academic excellence; it also guarantees transparency and integrity of the selection process. In addition, the Commission provides assistance to scholars on visa issues.

All Fulbright grants include a travel allowance to cover round-trip travel expenses between United States and Italy. Fulbright grantees are covered by Accident and Sickness Insurance provided by United States Department of State.

Partnerships between Commission and private citizens, public and private companies and agencies have led to the institution of grants for study/research activities and programs in a variety of disciplinary fields.
